Trainee Underground Jointer

Day-to-day tasks

• Complete live cable jointing at low voltage
• Complete cable jointing at voltages within your authorisation using procedures and tools with which you have been trained
• Inspect any Underground Asset and report any defects
• Install cables and associated racking, cleating and clamping where required 
• Carry out earth tests and earth upgrades
• Install metering equipment and conduct appropriate commissioning tests at the meter position
• Erect and install pre-formed scaffolding
• Switch Isolate and Earth on LV networks

Skills and knowledge

• Basic electrical experience
• Basic construction experience
• Awareness of and compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and Industry standards
• Team player / collaborative working and knowledge sharing
• Be organised and reliable
• Be familiar with working with Risk Assessments
• Experience of groundwork
• In good physical health and confident working safely in confined spaces
