Midwife
What do they do?
Midwives support and care for pregnant women and their babies before, during and after childbirth. They provide antenatal care, including parenting classes, clinical examinations and screening. They identify high-risk pregnancies, monitor women and support them during labour and the birthing process. They also teach mothers how to feed, care for and bathe their babies.

What do you need?
To work as a Midwife you would need to complete a Degree in Midwifery and subsequently gain NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration. To gain entry onto a degree course you would need two or three A Levels, preferably with one of these being in a biological science and 5 GCSE’s grade A*-C including English, Maths and a Science. Each university sets its own entry requirements so it's essential that you check each one to see what their requirements are.
