Security Officer
In this role, you will provide operational support for the security of IT systems and applications ensuring that IT systems and data are secure and staff are trained in good security practices.
Day-to-day Tasks
- Monitoring and Responding:
- Use tools to watch for potential computer issues and respond to warnings. - Investigating and Securing:
- Check for and investigate security problems, ensuring quick and thorough solutions. - Staying Updated and Planning:
- Stay informed about the latest in technology security and plan for the best practices in a company. - Coordinating Cybersecurity Tests:
- Plan and conduct tests to find weak points in computer systems through simulated cyber-attacks. - Analyzing Results and Recommending Improvements:
- Review test results and suggest ways to make computer systems more secure. - Providing Cybersecurity Advice:
- Give advice on cybersecurity to manage risks and make sure everyone follows the rules.
Skills & Knowledge
- Proven experience in a cyber security role
- Good understanding of computer systems – hardware, software, networks and cyber security
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Able to deliver security training and awareness sessions
