Plasterer
Plasterers apply plaster to walls and ceilings ready for decorating and finishing.
Day-to-day Tasks
- estimate materials: figure out how much stuff is needed for a job
- prepare surfaces: get things ready and make surfaces even
- mix plaster: make the plaster just right using hands or a special machine
- put plaster on walls and ceilings: add plaster to make them smooth - this is called solid plastering
- make fancy decorations: create cool designs like ceiling roses, cornices and architraves - it's called fibrous plastering
- put up walls inside: attach plasterboard or wallboard to make rooms
- cover outside walls: protect them with things like pebble-dash or render

Industry Qualifications
If you want to be a plasterer, you can start in a trainee position at a company that provides plastering services.
