Trainee Overhead Linesperson
Day-to-day tasks
- Patrol overhead lines and report defects and any work being performed in the vicinity of the line route
- Carry out work on live LV apparatus, conductors or equipment as required
- Carry out work on overhead lines up to and including HV
- Erect, examine, maintain and repair substation overhead bus bars and connections
- Remove and replace links and fuses as required
- Maintain and use test equipment, meters and instruments and record the readings
- Undertake cable terminations and joints
- Erect and inspect pre-formed scaffolds
Skills and knowledge
- Basic electrical experience
- Basic construction experience
- Awareness of and compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and Industry standards
- Team player / collaborative working and knowledge sharing
- Be organised and reliable
- Be familiar with working with Risk Assessments
- Experience of groundwork
- In good physical health and confident working safely in confined spaces
