Student Constable
Student Constables work as an integral part of a Neighbourhood Policing Team to provide local delivery of high quality police services in line with the Constabulary’s strategic aims and Neighbourhood Policing Plan to ‘Keep People Safe’. Increasing public confidence, satisfaction and reassurance; reducing crime and increasing the detection of crime.
Day-to-day Duties
- Respond to a wide range of incidents appropriately in line with the law and guidance to support public confidence in the police
- Identify threats, harm, risks through understanding local issues in order to best protect the community
- Use recognised problem-solving techniques to reduce the impact of crime and disorder on the community
- Engage with victims, witnesses and the vulnerable to provide initial support in line with the victims' code of conduct
- Maintain awareness of actual and potential risks to individuals, groups and businesses and take action to support and protect those in need.
- Develop practical communication skills to interact with community members
- Collaborate with fellow officers to maintain public safety and order
Skills & Knowledge
- Must be of good character
- Must be in good health
- Must be physically fit
- Must hold a full driving licence
- Must be able to pass aptitude test.
- Must be at least 18 ½ years of age
- Be a Manx or British citizen
- Must have a connection with the Isle of Man
