CNC (Computer numerical controller) Machinist/Operator
CNC machinists operate computer numerical control machines to precisely cut, shape, and fabricate materials, playing a crucial role in manufacturing by producing accurate and high-quality components for various industries.
Day-to-day Tasks
A CNC machinist makes precision parts. Taking a metal bar, forging or casting and converting it to a finished part using a precision machine. A CNC machinist is also responsible for programming the CNC machine tool with data from technical drawings, first line quality checks including measuring and visually inspecting parts that come off their work centre. It is common for CNC machinist jobs to exist at various levels depending on qualification, skill and experience.
Skills and knowledge
You will need:

Industry Requirements
- an engineering apprenticeship
- previous experience as a CNC Machinist
- relevant transferable skills in another industry and be willing to train into role
