Journalists gather, investigate and report news stories to inform the public, conducting interviews, researching and writing articles to deliver accurate and timely information through newspapers, magazines, websites or broadcast media.

Industry Qualifications
There are various avenues to enter this profession. You can take specialised courses, be self-taught, gain practical experience through internships, or pursue an apprenticeship. Sometimes all it takes is a personal connection within the industry to unlock opportunities and launch your career.
Most broadcast journalists have either a degree in journalism or a degree in another subject followed by a postgraduate qualification in broadcast journalism.
Some courses are accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council.
Graduate trainee schemes
As a graduate you could apply to broadcasting companies like the BBC who offer advanced journalism trainee schemes. Places are limited and competition is strong.
