Role Overview:  Assist in ensuring the safety, care, and support of children during the lunchtime period, particularly for those with special educational needs (SEN) based at Bunscoill Rhumsaa.

Key Responsibilities:  

Supervision & Safety:  

- Ensure children’s safety and hygiene during lunchtime.
- Monitor behaviour and encourage good manners.
- Address minor injuries and report significant incidents.
- Maintain cleanliness of dining and play areas.

Support for Pupils:  

- Provide one-on-one or group support for children with SEN.
- Assist with feeding, personal hygiene, and toileting as needed.
- Encourage positive play and activities.

Communication & Collaboration:  

- Liaise with the Specialist Provision Centre (SPC) team and follow individual care plans.
- Use appropriate rewards and behaviour strategies as per school policy.

Specialized Support:   

- Undertake training for medical tasks (e.g., suction or peg feeding).
- Handle equipment for toileting or mobility support as required.

Safeguarding:    

- Act in line with child protection policies and report any concerns promptly.

Essential Skills:   
- Experience or willingness to care for school-age children.
- Ability to support pupils with SEN.
- Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Warm, approachable, and calm demeanor.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training.

Desirable Skills:    

- Experience in voluntary youth work (e.g., Scouts or Brownies).
- First aid certification.
- Isle of Man worker status.
