Cinema Attendant
Cinema and theatre attendants help customers visiting entertainment shows.
Day-to-day Tasks
You could:
- check tickets
- show people to their seats
- sell programmes
- sell refreshments from trays or kiosks during the interval
- deal with any problems or complaints
- re-stock the refreshment kiosks and trays
- collect litter and tidy up after a show
- work in the cinema or theatre's cafe, bar or box office
Skills and Knowledge
You'll need:
- customer service skills
- excellent verbal communication skills
- the ability to work well with others
- to enjoy working with other people
- patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- to be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device
Industry Qualifications
When working as a cinema attendant, each employer will likely provide full training on what they expect. As with all hospitality roles you can take this career worldwide as the essential prerequisites is experience. So once you have experience as a cinema attendant, they are needed worldwide and even at sea on cruise ships! It's even a great start to progressing within hospitality, perhaps even to a general manager role!
