Air Traffic Controller
Provide an air traffic control service, flight information service and alerting service within Isle of Man Controlled Airspace.
Day-to-day tasks
- monitor and direct the movement of aircraft on the ground and in the air.
- control all ground traffic at airport runways and taxiways
- issue take-off and landing instructions to pilots
- keep radio and radar contact with aircraft
- direct the movement of aircraft en route or at an airport
- instruct aircraft to climb or descend and allocate final cruising level
- provide information to aircraft about weather conditions
- make sure that minimum distances are maintained between planes
- handle unexpected events, emergencies and unscheduled traffic
- notify appropriate organisations regarding aircraft in need of search and rescue aid and assist such organisations as required
- as part of this role you will work a shift pattern including early mornings, late evenings, weekend and bank holidays as well as overnight on-call duties
